Computer Keyboard Not Working | Basics to Fix It

The keyboard on your laptop suddenly stopped working, and you have to finish your typing! What should you do? Continue reading possible solutions are to your advantage.

Crumbs: Unfold your laptop, check if there are crumbs stuck on your keyboard. Having difficulty seeing from the keyboard gap you try to shake upside down with caution. This way if there’s something stuck on your keyboard it will fall. You know, sometimes we never know small particles blown away by air ventilation, scrap spill over while eating in front of a laptop. In case the key stuck because of soda spillage, clean those keys with a rag soaked in a drop of cleaners like alcohol or clean water. Apply the liquid first to the cloth not directly on your keyboard. Use a cotton swab to dry the key. Don’t bother to disassemble the keyboard unless you know how to return those parts. Reboot your computer by holding down the power button for 15 seconds to turn off the computer. If the damage of liquid so extensive, you have to replace the keyboard assembly.

Driver Problem: you always in a hurry, you turn off your machine without using the shutdown switch, or third-party software you install often. Check the device manager, when you see a keyboard had an exclamation point next to it or the icon keyboard does not show up, you have to download and install the latest driver for the keyboard from your computer manufacturer.

Defective Connections: Occasionally the keyboard loses connections with the computer motherboard, and you own a keyboard that both works sporadic or not at all. Remove the outer case and reconnecting the ribbon cable on the bottom to fix the lost connection, make sure you know doing this. If not, check the manual diagram online from your laptop manufacturer and follow instructions on how to disassemble your laptop and reconnecting the ribbon cable. If you don't know how to disassemble and reconnect the ribbon cable, then the best thing to do to bring your laptop to the service shop accredited by the manufacturer. This way you need to prepare your budget for services and replacement of damaged parts.

Before you bring your laptop to the service shop, check first if your computer still covered by warranty. If you're still in your warranty period or have an extended warranty, then contact your laptop manufacturer's technical support line. If they prove that you're using a defective keyboard and still covered by the manufacturer warranty, then you should able to get it replaced at their service shop without too much stress. A reminder before you deliver your laptop to a service shop, it's always advisable to back up your hard drive or remove it and keep on to yourself. That way your data files is safe, which is the most significant part of your laptop.

The basic tips above should address most of the potential issues. However, if you can't obtain the keyboard functioning after one or more of the above instructions, then get your laptop repair by the specialist.
